Mercenaries During the Last Violent Prophecy

The mercenaries of the inquisition are a group of religious zealots that use the power of the occult of achieve the church's goals. While not inherently evil, the inquisition does cause conflict with the other factions in the world of New Terra. It is said that the seven great evils were sealed away a long time ago in several cursed artifact weapons. The weapons that each inquisitor carries appears to have the same dark energies as reported in the scriptures.

The mercenaries of the Inquisition are led by groups of three to help keep their power in control. In times of the peril their powers can be combined to form a nearly unstoppable force. The powers of the mercenary inquisitors is best when the three are combined and if the right members are placed together. Where the church soldiers are seen in the open, in the background are three powerful doctors that are constantly searching the alternate dimensions for more powerful artifacts.

Weaknesses

Mercenary or Merc Decks rely heavily on swarming the field very quickly. Several of them have great abilities and can prove to be quite potent only when used in numbers. You will need to make sure you play a good deal of deck manipulation if you decide to the run the three Inquisitors or the Doctors. Opponents that play a great deal of effect destruction will make quick work of your Doctoral Council which you need to unlock your full abilities on turn three. Since you are trying to swarm the field, cards such as Paradigm's Edge and Starcat Viper can greatly hinder your ability to play Unique Resources to rush your cards into play. Additionally, many of the Merc decks rely heavily on Architect of the Flesh to survive, so Unquestioned Superiority and other defensive cards are quite effective at keeping your keep members alive and out of harm's way.

Inquisitor (Beat Down)

The mercenary deck is a deck that focuses on speed and getting three copies of cards in play that work together to unlock their full abilities. The three inquisitors Arcanist of the Inquisition, Templar of the Inquisition, and Warlord of the Inquisition will form the early game where later game cards such as the brothers or doctors can be used to seal victory. While each of these late game mercenaries are really devastating it would be best to focus either on the doctors or the brothers for late game. While not fully effective in all decks the three inquisitors make great early game plays in decks that can afford the 12 slots to play them. The main strategy with this variant is to use the Arcanist and Templar to weaken or slay your opponent's characters and buff the Warlord which gets stronger for each character sent to the void.

House Birdos (Aggro)

The "Bird" deck is a very aggressive form of the Mercenary Deck that can take control of the field very quickly. By using the Support abilities of the various Totem Wings you can remove threats very quickly. Such as Red Totem Wing's Damage ability for Characters and Black Totem Wing's Discard ability for non-character cards. This deck can establish field advantage very quickly as many of the Totem Wing Support abilities only cost one or two Terra. Once enough resources are established you can start hitting he opponent hard with your Swift characters such as Dave, the Totem Wings, and The I Don't Know. This deck needs to keep the momentum flowing as once the opponent can stop your initial flood of birds, it is hard for the deck to re-establish the control over the playing field. Take advantage of your Support abilities and don’t be afraid to use them over playing the birds as characters. When using Architect of the Flesh, try to get cards that allow you to recycle or fully utilize your Totem Wings such as Noodles the Star Cat and Kupoh, Totem Wing Prime.
